The One Thread Project exists to bring sewing vocational education, language literacy, business training, mentorship, and the hope of Jesus Christ to the women and children of Kinshasa, DR Congo.

Our sewing vocational education is the flagship program at The One Thread Project. Our comprehensive curriculum offers a 12-month education as well as an internship at a local boutique. The women who complete our program are ready to start their business upon graduation.

Business basics is a weekly class offered to all students at Espoir. Lessons include basic budgeting, comparative advantage, customer service, pricing, and more. Any student who has completed a vocational training class at Espoir and the business training is eligible to apply for a business seed loan through our Ambassador Program.

Our language literacy program brings access to reading, writing, and speaking to those who may not have had the opportunity as a child. According to a study done by the UIS, only 66% of women in DR Congo are literate. These skills will help them be better communicators, have confidence when working with clients, and be sought out leaders in their community.
