Say Hello to the Future Business Leaders of Kinshasa

Over the last two years there have been 14 new businesses in the city of Kinshasa because of our seed loan program. These business owners sell clothing, food, and household items in their local markets. We hope one day every market in Kinshasa will have an Espoir graduate selling!

Seed Loan Program

  • Seed Loan

In a country with great financial inequity, our seed loan program provides a space for donors to have one-to one impact with a graduate of our programs. This loan provides financial access to begin their business. Any student who graduates from our Entrepreneurship Training has the opportunity to apply for this loan. Each potential loan applicant presents their detailed business plan to the US Team and Board of Directors. Once approved, the applicant is able to access their full loan to get their business up and running.

  • Mentorship

Each loan recipient not only receives the financial resources needed to begin their new business, but they also receive a business mentor. One of our Espoir Training Center staff members visits each business every month, helps to troubleshoot as problems arise, and celebrate their successes along the way. Our Seed loan recipients also come to the training center monthly. This helps to provide them with a community of entrepreneurs to continue growing in their seamstress skills, literacy, and friendship. This is what makes our program unique.
